Comprehensive research and data-driven insights to illuminate Libya's economic landscape and inform strategic decision-making.
Labor Market
Assessment (LMA)
Tatweer Research conducted a comprehensive assessment to illuminate the Libyan labor market, in collaboration with the UN Development Programme (UNDP), and published the findings in 2021. This seminal assessment is the most extensive of its kind in Libya to date. Its purpose was to provide a meticulous analysis of the market's size and character, examining the private sector's workforce, skills gap, and industry distribution.
The assessment also delved into identifying areas of growth and development, pinpointing those industries with the most promising opportunities for expansion. Furthermore, it analyzed the demographic composition of the private sector workforce, including the participation of migrant workers. The research team presented their findings and recommendations during a ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Labor in Tripoli in September 2021, offering a roadmap for supporting economic activities within Libya's private sector.
Fezzan
Agriculture Assessment
To build upon the success of the AgriTEC project in Kufra, we collaborated with the World Food Programme (WFP) to conduct a comprehensive assessment of farmers' needs on a larger scale, paving the way for the implementation of a sector-wide evaluation in southern Libya's Fezzan region. Our methodology combined both quantitative and qualitative data, garnered from a rigorous collection and analysis process spanning February to May 2023, comprising a quantitative survey and in-depth interviews. The resulting data provided a detailed portrait of the agricultural sector, revealing vital insights into production volumes, water consumption, and pesticide usage patterns.
The assessment also endeavored to elucidate the prevailing agricultural practices, encompassing irrigation methods, soil typology, crop types, and land utilization techniques, as well as the types of equipment and tools employed. Additionally, it aimed to investigate the extent of farmers' dependence on production, the dynamics of supply and demand in the agricultural market, and the demographic profiles of farmers.
